An access log is a text file which contains a full list of all the files accessed by your site visitors. All of the files that were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script application and a site visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you may find numerous files inside the log. This is because there are components on the home page which are embedded - parts of other Internet pages, graphics, and so on. All of these files shall be listed within the access log, so you're able to get a detailed picture of the way your website works. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are frequently called "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of each and every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. Additional information, like the referrer website, is oftentimes provided as well. A log file can be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics created by your server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your cloud web hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link together with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you no longer need one, you could stop it with simply a click from the same section of the CP. You shall still be able to access the already created content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it won't take more than a couple of clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function could be enabled through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this may be done individually for each and every domain name or subdomain that you have inside your account. After you log in and visit the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to every one of them. One click will enable the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great comfort. A Download link inside the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, that you may then use on your PC. Even if the logs are deactivated, you will still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
